Tour Montparnasse
We had dinner in Le Petit Sommelier and it was delicious and great fun! The waiters were great and made it extra fun. Then it was off to the Tower to enjoy the view of Paris by night and the twinkling lights on the Eiffel Tower. They twinkle every hour on the hour for 5 mins.
We all really enjoyed our evening.

Day tour in Paris
This will be the short version as the long one just disappeared on me.
We had a tour of Paris today. Got picked up by bus. We drove all around the city and saw the major sights. Had to take the RER to the Notre Dame as the mayor no longer allows buses to go there. The rose windows are 42 feet wide and made of one million pieces of stained glass.
We continued our tour past the arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, the hotel des Invalides, the opera house, Trocadero, place de la Concorde, champs élysées . Some of if got off at the Louvre and went to the the Musee d'Orsay which is one of my favourite museums.
Tonight, we are having dinner and some are off to the Tour Montparnasse which is the only sky scraper in Paris and some are off to the Moulin rouge for a show.
The weather is amazing. Chilly but sunny!

First evening in Paris . Montmartre
We arrived at the Pullman Hotel in Montparnasse. Everyone is happy with their rooms. So much space compared to the ship cabins!
Vino the Beaver was anxious to start sightseeing, so we took the Metro to Montmartre. We had a quick bite to eat in a restaurant with a view of the Sacre Coeur. Vino had some vino and a french fry. We took the finacular up to the Sacre Coeur and watched the Eiffel Tower. The Sacre Coeur is beautiful. We were all getting tired and took the Metro back to the hotel. It took us a while to get our bearings (in the dark) but we found it. Off to bed and ready for a new adventure tomorrow

Last evening in Lyon and boat cruise & cooking course on Friday
Our week on the Amadaggio went too fast! Almost time to go to Paris on the TGV.
Our ladies had a chance to go shopping in Lyon.... And they did!
We needed to pack in the afternoon.
Time for a champagne reception and a chance to thank the wonderful staff of the ship.
They work seven days a week for eight months...and always have a smile on their face.
Most of us rated AMA waterways as Outstanding. It would be hard to find fault with anything as everyone couldn't be more helpful. The ship is very clean and in perfect repair.
The captain is only 27 years young and this was his second trip. We thought he looked like Tiger Woods and his first mate like Ben Affleck! We enjoyed the eye candy :-)
Another delicious dinner... We were very spoiled.
Nanette had made 'memory sheets' and we took time during dinner to write messages to everyone. A nice keepsake for years to come, of a river cruise and of new friends.
On Friday morning we had to leave the ship by 8:30 am and we took a short bus ride to the centre of Lyon where we visited a cooking school. We broke up in groups of 3 and each made 3 different dishes. All delicious and easy to make. They served Beaujolais... It is Noon in the world somewhere, right?
Vino The Beaver had fun with the chefs and really liked the whipped cream! Watch that waistline!
We had a chance to do some more shopping and grab a quick lunch before boarding the bus to the train station. AMA took care of all our luggage, so it was very easy.
It had been raining in Lyon but we are taking the sunny weather we had all week with us to Paris.

Just arrived in Paris. Safe train journey - two hours. Sun is shining but it is chilly. We are happy!
The noisy Canadians have arrived.

Afternoon in Lyon
We had a meeting at 9:00 am this morning to go over the disembarkation process as we leave the ship tomorrow and take the fast train to Paris. It will take us two hours to get there.
Our ladies had time to go shopping and wander around the beautiful city of Lyon. Susan's daughter is studying here for four months and the two reunited! How wonderful. Sharon met an old friend who lives here for two years and had lunch with her.
Thea, Judy, Sue and I had fun shopping and enjoyed a wonderful lunch under the blossom trees. Steak tartare, Chablis and sunshine. It doesn't get better!
Dinner is late tonight at 8:00 pm and everyone is busy packing.
