So this is our last night in Peru. Wow what a trip! This morning we
headed out early and on our way to the airport we visited Sillustani
Burial Towers which stands on the shore of Lake Umayo. It is famous for
its chulpas, large circular burial towers for the chiefs and important
people of the early villages of the Callao plateau. These ancient and
impressive tombs from the pre-Inca period period were built from a
mixture of stone and adobe. There was a rock shaped like a Puma's
head that had a magnetic field in it that made a compass go crazy and
unable to read direction. We also got to view the flat-top mountain near
this site. We then ventured to a local home near by and saw how they
lived and even saw guinea pigs. We tried potatoes dipped in clay which
helps ulcers and cleanses the liver. Off to Juliaca to the airport to
Lima and then we just finished our farewell dinner and heading home to
Toronto. We are taking home wonderful treasures and lifetime memories!
