Danube River Cruise - Budapest Day 1

We arrived safe and sound.  A little weary from our long connecting flight via Frankfurt. Note to self, find another airport to connect through. The walk from one gate to another seemed like miles, especially when tired. Check in to the AMA Amalegro was smooth and a light lunch was waiting for us upon arrival. Delicious soup, sandwiches and very tasty cookies.  Most of us decided to take a walk into the market area. The weather is delightful, sunny and warm enough for a light over coat. Our ship is docked on the Pest side of the river and the pedestrian walkway is lined with many wonderful shops.
This evening we are treated to glass of champagne at the captains welcoming cocktail party and then to our first fabulous meal.  I can see we're going to gain some wait on this trip. The food is amazing!

This evening was a special celebration, it's Marlene's birthday.  The waiters  surprised her with a wonderful desert topped with a dazzling sparkler.  Happy Birthday Marlene. I'm sure this will be a birthday to be remembered.
After dinner we went up to the top deck to take in the view of Buda castle and the chain bridge. The evening air is warm and balmy and the lights magnificent.  Cindy pauses for a moment to take in the historical beauty.

The evening was topped of with a wonderful Hungarian Folk show of traditional music and dance. A great time was had by all.  Tomorrow we will enjoy a guided city tour of Budapest then set sail for Bratislava and Vienna.
