We've arrived at Vienna and tonight GLP has treated us to a night of music, song and dance at The Kursalon, one of Vienna's famous concert halls.
In 1868 the first concert featuring compositions by Johann Strauss took place. The Kursalon, with its dances and promenade concerts, rapidly became the meeting place for Viennese society, who celebrated the cult of the waltz and joie de vivre.
The melodies of Johann Strauss and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart seem to float through the air and the enchanting renaissance style hall is lit with spectacular chandeliers. This evening is quite magical and we feel as though we've been transported back in time.
The male and female opera singers are magnificent and listening to them you have a new appreciation for their craft. The ballet dancers seem to float through the air and the gentleman lifts the ballerina effortlessly. This was a wonderful experience and I feel so fortunate to have had this opportunity to appreciate the talents of these splendid musicians, singers and dancers.
