Mexico's Mayan Riviera - Eldorado Maroma Resort
Recently I had the pleasure of staying at the 5 1/2 star Eldorado Maroma located on the Mayan Riviera in Mexico, an adult only, gourmet inclusive resort. Gourmet inclusive means no buffet restaurants, no 7am lineup to book you dinner reservation and never an issue getting what you desire. Each meal was a fine dining experience with excellent service and delicious food. There were various fine dining options; authentic mexican, italian, teppanyaki, sushi, thai, beach barbeques and continental cuisine.
My stay was absolutely fabulous, from beginning to end. The staff were amazing, always happy and attentive. The rooms were exceptional. I can honestly say this is one of the nicest resorts I have visited. The first night we stayed in a swimout suite. It was wonderful. The next day the maid found a small leak so they moved us to an upgraded infiniti pool suite. WOW! It was perfect. So private and very romantic. The suite consisted of a large room with a draped kingsize bed, satellite TV, Stereo with CD player and ipod docking station, living room with a large couch, chair and dining table for 2. The bathroom was well equipped with private toilet area, double jacuzzi tub, double vanity, double indoor shower and my favourite a double outdoor shower. Everyday I took a shower outside in the warmth of the bright sun or under the starlit night sky. The private balcony consisted of comfortable deck chairs, table and a private plunge pool with views of the white sand beach and the shimmering aquamarine sea.
The soft, powdery, white sand beach went on for miles and miles and the calm sea was delightfuly warm. Maroma beach is on the Conde Naste list of best beaches in the world.
Ultra romantic was the theme and Eldorado certainly new how to pull it off. From private couples massage at the over water skyloft, 24 hour room service or private candlelit dinners on the beach. Every evening the maid would turn your room into a romantic haven by lighting the aroma therapy candles, drawing a rose petal bubble bath and turn down service that included chocolates on the pillows, creative towel arrangements and fresh flowers sprinkled on the bed.
Daily activities were offered but most couples chose to lay back and relax on the draped double loung beds which were scattered about the property: around the pool, in the garden or beachfront. The Butlers were always nearby offering snacks, refreshing drinks or picnic lunches. Offsite activities were plentiful should you wish to explore: ancient mayan ruins, snorkelling and scuba diving in the ocean or the rivers and caves, ziplining or atv tours, dolphin encounters, shopping in Cancun or Playa del Carmen and much much more.
My experience at the Elorado Maroma was absolutely wonderful and I look forward to the day when I return to this tropical, romantic paradise.
